RACEplus
The Nepean Institute of Critical Care Education and Research hold regular Rapid Assessment by Cardiac Echo (RACE) workshops throughout the year.
Rapid Assessment by Cardiac Echo plus (RACEplus) is a two day practical course on the application of ultrasound in assessing the heart and chest in the acute setting.
The objective of RACEplus is to enable the acute care physician to evaluate:
- Pericardial effusion/tamponade
- Left ventricular contraction
- Right heart function
- Fluid status
- Pleural effusions
The course also covers lung ultrasound, echo in hypotensive patients and/or case interpretation workshop. One distinctive features of RACEplus, as opposed to other basic critical care echo courses, is that RACEplus has incorporated a focused assessment session where participants are tested on their knowledge of applications of RACEplus in certain clinical situations. The instructors will give personal feedback in this session. Note that RACEplus content may differs according to location and needs.
Private workshops can also be arranged at individual hospitals for a minimum of 10 participants. For further informtion regarding private workshops please contact us.
