Dr Marek Nalos
Dr. Marek Nalos is a senior consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at Nepean Hospital, Penrith, NSW, Australia. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of Charles University in Plzeň, the Czech Republic in 1995 and was practicing Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in Plzeň, the Czech Republic till moving to Australia in 2002. He was a research Fellow in the Critical Care Research Program, Kuopio University, Finland under Prof. Jukka Takala in 1996 and in the Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care, University of Ulm, Germany under Prof. Peter Radermacher in 2000. He is an associate Professor in Critical Care at the Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Plzen, the Czech Republic and a senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, Nepean Clinical School. He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Intensive Care Medicine and holds the European Diploma in Intensive Care. He holds a PhD from the Charles University, Prague, the Czech Republic. His current clinical appointments are at Nepean, Goulburn and Wagga Wagga Base hospitals in NSW, and National Capital Private hospital in ACT, Australia.
He has a keen interest in critical care echocardiography and ultrasound in general and teaches at national and international ultrasound courses. His other research interests include immune function and lactate metabolism in critical illness.
