 0 January 2027.\n\n \n\n\n\nPractical Intermediate Echocardiography for Cr
 itical Care\n\nPIE is a new 2-day intermediate level transthoracic echocard
 iography (TTE) course targeting at more experienced or advanced practitione
 rs. This course is particularly useful to:\n\n\nPractitioners who are alrea
 dy performing basic level echo but would like to advance their skills and a
 pply Doppler echo in their clinical examinations.\n \nPractitioners who are
  already performing Doppler echo but want to perfect their Doppler skills o
 r want to learn more on assessments using proper Doppler measurements.\n \n
 Practitioners who want to prepare for advanced critical care echocardiograp
 hy qualifications (e.g. EDEC\, DDU).\n\n\nOur trainers are established inte
 rnational and local experts\, such as supervisors for Advanced qualificatio
 ns (e.g. EDEC\, DDU)\, who have plenty of experience in teaching echocardio
 graphy.\n\nThis course differs from most other courses in that the hands-on
  sessions are very interactive\, full of fun and challenges.  Candidates a
 re requested to complete the tasks listed in the PIE Handout in the hands-o
 n sessions.\n\nIf you are the type of person who is obsessed with What? Whe
 n? and Why? instead of just How?\, then this is THE COURSE for you.\n\nCou
 rse contentThe course covers basic principles and clinical topics\, with th
 e emphasis on Doppler assessments. Topics* may include:\n\n• Core topics:
 \n\n\n\n\nRevisiting anatomy and views in TTE\, and probe navigation\n \nPr
 inciples of Doppler & tissue Doppler\n \nCardiac output measurements by Dop
 pler\n \nThe Bernoulli's equation and assumptions\n \nPulmonary artery pres
 sure estimations\n \nTissue Doppler and applications\n \nMean pressure grad
 ient\, pressure half-time\, and their applications in valvular assessments\
 n \nThe continuity equation and its applications\n \nAssessing LV filling p
 ressures\n \nDifferent types of dynamic LV outflow obstructions\n \nPitfall
 s of Doppler measurements\n\n\n\n\n• Clinical topics &/or Case studies ma
 y cover one or more of the following:\n\n\n\n\nShock\n \nShortness of breat
 h\n \nSepsis\n \nChest pain\n \nPulmonary oedema\n \nPulmonary embolism and

 nd Recommendation\n\nIn order to achieve the best learning outcome\, we rec
 ommend you should have\n\n\nattended a basic level (Level 1) critical care 
 echocardiography course  (e.g. RACEplus)\, and\n \nperformed at least 30 T
 TEs since attended the basic level course\, or are comfortable in obtaining
  the standard TTE views. (No proofs required)\n\n\nCourse accreditation\n\n
 This course has been approved by the the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine\, an
 d is accredited by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine\,  Colle
 ge of Intensive Care Medicine (Australia & NZ)\, HK College of Emergency Me
 dicine and HK College of Anaesthesiologists for CPD/CME purpose.\n\n \n\n\
 n\n \n\nRACEplus is recognized by ASUM for CCPU (RCE & BELS) purposes\, an
 d is approved for 14 ACEM CPD hours.\n\nNote: Participants claiming ACEM CP
